The serialization committee meeting begins and, with a number of competitive manga to choose from, goes on longer than normal. Mashiro, Takagi and the other artists await their fate, unable to hide their jealousy and anxiety.

Mashiro is whiling away his days without thought for the future when he is approached by Takagi. Takagi's request? "Team up with me and create manga!"

In order to marry Azuki, Mashiro decides to become a manga artist. But he has to convince his family despite his uncle's death from overwork.

Mashiro takes Takagi to Uncle's old studio. They find Uncle's love letters but are in for a shock who the woman on the other end was.

Mashiro becomes obsessed with mastering the G-pen, blowing off studying for exams. Takagi is worried, but begins his own research in creating manga.

Mashiro and Takagi decide to finish up their manga over summer vacation. Takagi tries to explain to Miyoshi why he was asking about Azuki.

Their first submission is ready; the boys bring it to a publisher and meet one of the editors. His feedback has the boys between ecstasy and misery.

Mashiro now sits next to Azuki, but he asks a question that makes her cry. Azuki gives Mashiro her text address, leaving Moritaka confused.

Mashiro and Takagi begin work on a new manga. One of their classmates finds out about the project and begins critiquing Mashiro's art.

Though Takagi has been suspended, he's using the time on his storyboards. Mashiro drops by his partner's house, he finds a delicate situation.

Mashiro and Takagi go to discuss "One Hundred Millionth" with Mr. Hattori and get advice on their next project.

While working on their submission, Mashiro and Takagi must make it through high school entrance exams. An IA gift from Azuki arrives for Mashiro.

The boys need to redouble their efforts to repay Hattori for his belief in them. Mashiro finds out that Azuki will be moving away.
